SPEAKER ANNOUNCEMENTS
We're thrilled to announce the first line-up of speakers. NY Times cybersecurity reporter, Nicole Perlroth talk about the cyber threats all businesses face. Arcimoto Founder Mark Frohnmayer will discus his journey to creating a billion dollar Electric Vehicle company in Eugene. Bend entrepreneur Lora Haddock will be on hand to talk about the thrills and challenges of building a female self love company. And venture capitalist Marceau Michel on how VCs can address social justice issues.
AOTECH UPDATE
If you've been following, you know that our annual start-up competition has been improved by a partnership with Oregon Entrepreneurs Network. OEN is powering AOTEch: an education and investment event for entrepreneurs. The pitch competition finale will happen on TechfestNW main stage, where finalists will be pitching to a panel of investors for the opportunity to win a direct angel investment of up to $125K.
The AOTech workshop series is already underway with about 90 participating tech startups. About half are concept stage companies and half are growth, and nearly 40% include a founder or co-founder of color. Interested in participating? There’s still time to register.
INCLUDE AWARDS
We're excited to announce a new partnership with Black Founders Matter designed to help address the lack of racial diversity in the regional tech sector. In addition to a direct angel investment being made in one Angel Oregon Tech company and announced at our event on May 21st, two concept-stage companies led by BIPOC founders will receive an INCLUDE AWARD, which come with a $5K prize each to help further develop the company.
