The renewable energy transition will require a mining boom. The demand for lithium, zinc, and other resources is growing rapidly. Batteries, wind turbines and solar and power lines need critical minerals (as do hydro, geothermal, nuclear, and hydrogen technologies). But meeting the demand for these is not going to be easy, especially if it is to be done sustainably and without displacing communities.

Peter Bryant is a Board Advisor at venture capital firms Chrysalix and Foundamental, Board Chair and Managing Director of advisory firm Clareo, and Co-Founder and Board Chair of the Development Partner Institute, a nonprofit focused on improved social, economic, and environmental outcomes for communities from resource development projects. He is a recognized thought leader on the energy transition, materials and mining, innovation and ESG.
Peter brings a unique and passionate perspective to one of the great challenges faced by companies and humanity – the just energy transition – and the important interlocking challenges presented by the materials supply chain and the innovation needed to create the pathways to meet the 2035/2050 goals being set by companies and governments alike.

Tem Tumurbat is the Co-Founder and Managing Partner at Nomadic Venture Partners, a climate tech firm accelerating decarbonization by investing in innovation across the mining value chain, as well as manufacturing, and transportation. Currently, NVP invests in pre-seed, seed, and Series A companies.
Tem focuses on fund strategy, fundraising, portfolio construction, valuation, and financial analysis. Prior to NVP, he was an investment professional at Resource Capital Funds, a private equity firm focused on mining investments and a mining engineer at AngloGold Ashanti and Newmont. He received his Bachelor’s in Mining Engineering at the Colorado School of the Mines.

Lachlan Wright is a Manager with Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI) Climate Intelligence Program, where he focuses on efforts to reduce emissions in heavy industry. His work includes developing and deploying carbon accounting frameworks specific to industrial sectors (e.g., steel, aluminum) to enable the development of a differentiated commodities market for products with low embodied emissions.
Prior to RMI, Lachlan worked as a Senior Engineer at Hatch in Australia, focusing on the development of base and battery (i.e., lithium and nickel) metals projects. Lachlan specialized in the delivery of feasibility studies, including process design and technoeconomic modeling.
Ian Lange is the Director of the Mineral and Energy Economics program at the Colorado School of Mines and a member of the Colorado Governor's Revenue Estimating Advisory Committee. He served as Senior Economist for Energy at the Council of Economic Advisers for both the Biden and Trump administrations.
Other previously held positions include the US Environmental Protection Agency, US Department of Energy, and University of Stirling in the UK. Ian earned his PhD in Economics from the University of Washington in 2005.
